Bands Fit Because they are Custom Made to Fit Your
Dog
The
sizing of your dog is the most important part of a
belly band / dog diaper. If the band does not
fit well it will not be comfortable for your boy,
may cause irritation or rub the fur off your dog.
Belly bands that are too wide will want to bunch up
and twist around your boy's body. Bands too
narrow will allow the dog to urinate right out the
end of the band..... defeating the purpose of the
band in the first place. SewDog has the size
for your male dog because we custom make your band
to fit your dog. We also offer standard sizes
that we keep in-stock in a few fabric patterns.

FABRIC &
MATERIALS
The
materials used are important to the construction of
a well made belly band / dog diaper. SewDog Belly
Bands are made of cotton, fleece, a polyester
batting within the center and a heavy duty Velcro.
All fabrics are washed prior to sewing to minimize
shrinkage and remove the sizing chemicals.
What materials we don't use are just as important as
the materials we do use, perhaps even more
important. SewDog Belly Bands does not use
plastic or elastic in our bands. The plastic
traps heat and moisture and elastic can rub, pinch
and breaks down and stiffens over time.
However, we will make them if a customer
specifically requests an incontinent layer or
elastic be added. There is an extra charge for
these options.

Top:
Cotton is durable, washable, light and
breathable. It also comes in a wide
assortment of designs, colors, patterns and
weights. We use quilting quality cotton
fabric with a high thread count. We also
have a few choices in a little heavier weight
but still has the softness... called duck
cotton.... not to be confused with the canvas
duck weight. |

Bottom:
Fleece is breathable, light weight, washable
and very soft. It comes in a wide
assortment of colors and patterns. Fleece is
highly flexible and will stretch and warp very
quickly if a band were to be made only with
fleece (top and bottom). We use 100%
polyester anti-pill fleece and only on the
bottom layer. With anti-pill fleece
there is softness next to your boy's sensitive
area. |

Inside:
Polyester felt/batting gives the band durability,
softness, and allows the band to remain stable
while moving with your dog. It's also
breathable, wicks moisture, and lightweight.
Cotton batting is a good choice for quilts not
for belly bands. Cotton batting holds
heat in, doesn't wick moisture away and is
heavy and most especially if it gets wet. |

Velcro:
The Velcro hook and loop tape we use is
industrial grade (medical) and is very strong
and durable. A generous length is used so you
can adjust for full and empty tummies, winter
and summer coats and weight changes.
Length of Velcro we use (3" to 4")
will depend on the size of band. Velcro
will damage clothing if not closed (hook and
loop stuck together) before washing and
drying. |

Thread:
In the making of dog diapers / belly bands
thread is critical. The thread is what
holds it all together and shows off the
craftsmanship. It needs to be especially
strong. We use the best quality 100%
Polyester thread. It's more expensive
but our customers are worth it. This
thread will stretch a bit giving the seams
some elasticity.... so no popped seams.
Our thread is made from continuous long
polyester fibers for strength. We don't
have the typical weaker short polyester fibers
with "fuzzy" looking thread. |

Quilting:
All the three layers are double top stitched
and the center is quilted, the Velcro is also
cross stitched for extra strength durability.
All the quality materials and meticulous
stitching make for a strong and beautiful band
that is going to look great and last for
years. |

Belly Bands are made in the United States of
America. We are saddened that cotton fabric is
no longer made in the USA anymore...not one yard!
Our country exports our cotton and primarily imports
fabrics from Japan, China and India. When cotton
fabric is made in the USA we will be the first in line
to purchase. Till then we do the best we can to
buy from USA manufacturers, USA retailers and USA
wholesalers.
DURABILITY
A
SewDog Belly Band is going to hold up to your dog's
active life and years of machine washings. A
feminine or incontinent pad (self adhesive) is
recommended to be placed between the dog and the
inside of the band. This helps prolong the life
of your band...the pad is disposable so using a belly
band is super easy.
